Subject: Aearation with pure oxygen

My wife bought me a pure oxygen aeartion system for use with disposable
Bernzomatic oxygen cannisters.

I'm about to try it out for the first time.

So my question now is how long do I bubble oxygen into the wort of 5-gallon
batch of "standard" gravity beer?

I believe I've heard times of 1-2 minutes in this regard but....

Any opinions out there?

Cheers,

Subject: Our apologies...

Greetings, Beerlings! Take me to your potted pork shoulder and ham
meat product...

The Janitors wish to apologize for the SPAM issue that escaped us 16
August - we've "rewritten history" and have eliminated that "all SPAM,
all the time" issue from the archives and rolled the issue number
back; however, that does not eliminate that fact that a heaping
helping of potted pork shoulder and ham meat product made it to your
inbox (or not...) via the auspices of the HBD. A command to impede
this incursion was sent to the server, but, for some reason I have yet
to diagnose, the server ignored it, and I neglected to look for the
acknowledgement that the command was received.

I will dig into the code to determine the why and, hopefully, a fix.
In the meantime, please accept our apologies for the error.

Subject: Sankey Couplers

The main distinctions between Sankey couplers are that there is a
European version and an American version. Depending on what you intend
to tap make sure you have the right type (or both). The other
distinction is in materials. Most are of plated brass, some have
stainless bodies with plated probes and the best have stainless bodies
with stainless probes. For just tapping it is unlikely that a home
brewer would subject a coupler to enough use/abuse to wear off the
plating but if you like to go with the most robust stainless is the
choice (with prices to match). OTOH home brewers use the couplers to
clean, sterilize and fill which means harsh chemicals, steam, hot water
etc will be running through and a tough coupler is needed for this
pushing you towards stainless.

Since the coupler will be used for various things (besides just tapping
beer) I find it convenient to remove the gas check "valve" and the "pea"
and put valves on the gas and beer ports. These are available from
Micromatic.

A.J.

I'm getting ready to purchase a couple of sankey couplers and found that are
several different ones out there. At Kegworks:

http://www.kegworks.com/

When you go to their keg couplers page, you find 2 regular couplers (at $28
and $30) and 2 stainless (at $33 and $43). So what's the differences between
what they have?

I can see that some of the others are special, one with a T handle, another
low profile, but nothing to tell you what to expect different in the others.
