This is a bit confusing and flies in the face of too many other styles. If
the lower gravity beer was in fact more stable how do we explain the
evolution of: Export stout,
Russian Imperial stout, Biere de Garde, Oktoberfest and barleywines?

Subject: Keg Gas question [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

G'day all,
After changing the disconnect on my gas line so I could gas up a keg
via the beer out diptube, I replaced the beer disconnect with the
original gas disconnect. Sure enough, I now have a very small
gas leak which is a hassle, but nonetheless manageable.

Then it dawned on me....if I'm occasionally hooking up the gas
line to the keg and giving it a squirt of CO2 to keep pouring
pressure in the keg, am I also inadvertantly adding some O2 to
the keg whilst I'm at it?

I'm not big on gas dynamics, but will a partially filled gas line
add O2 as well as CO2 when I use it - and - is the amount of
O2 over time going to have a flavour negative impact on the
kegged beer?
