NOTE: With the economy as it is, the HBD is struggling to
meet its meager operating expenses of approximately $3500
per year. If less than half of those currently directly
subscribed to the HBD sent in a mere $5.00, the HBD would
be able to easily meet its annual expenses, with room to
spare for next year. Please consider it.

Subject: re: All In One HERMS System Control

hi ya,
about 2 years ago or so I designed a
microcontroller based
control unit that would work for HERMS or
what ever style recirculation
system ya use.
I have 8 or so circuit boards left,
ya have to stuff them your self,
I can provide a programed
PIC14 controller. How it works is
there is a LCD screen
with your set temp and the
max outlet temp (from the heater)
so ya are not runing too much heat and
scorching wort.
the setpoints are adjustable
via a pushbutton interface.
Back then, I direct heated with a
1.5KW heater fused to copper
tubing the wort recirculates though.

have a low pressure steam system
now, so this don't get used anymore.
that is another story!

Subject: Re: Controller Info

Thanks to those replying to my last message
regarding controllers. In particular, the site for
The Electric Brewery is phenomonal!!
http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/ I could spend
days there. In fact, I probably will. I had looked
at the BCS at
http://www.embeddedcontrolconcepts.com/ and
although it seems to have everything that I want in
terms of inputs and responses, I don't like the idea
of having to also having to use a computer for the
interface. Anyone have thoughts on that or on
getting around it?

Thanks again!

Rick
